The San Antonio Regional Wine Guild (SARWG) was founded on May 16th, 1976, at the Old Standby Saloon in Castroville, Texas. Charlie Suehs had the honor to be elected SARWG's first President, Robert (Bob) Jorrie the first Vice President, and Dorothy Alatorre the first Secretary-Treasurer. They paved the way, and we are grateful.

This page is all about winemaking at your own home. I consider home winemaking as a very rewarding hobby and I started this winemaking page to share it with you. If you read all the info, you should be able to successfully produce your own batch of wine. Every winemaker has a different view on winemaking. As your winemaking skills evolve, you'll start combining methods and views from others and eventually you'll create your own. That's why the following reflects my view on home winemaking. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Enjoy the winemaking hobby!

Southampton is rife with people drooling over their bubbling buckets of wine. The list of converts grows steadily by the evil pressgang forces of Tom and Alec. Join the fun and make a name in the art of winemaking. This site has been set up for preaching our particular philosophy concerning the ancient art of winemaking. It is aimed generally at students or other similarly poor people, despite the bias towards Southampton, our ideas are applicable anywhere on the planet.

Fruit Winemaking Quarterly. The only publication dedicated to the art and science of making wine from fruits other than grapes. Call them fruit wines, country wines, or fun wines... the reality is that fruit winemaking offers an unending opportunity to explore and experiment. A wine maker using fruit other than grapes is limited only by the limits of his or her imagination. Fruit Winemaking Quarterly provides you with everything you ever wanted to know about fruit winemaking... and then some... interviews with amateur winemakers, commercial winemakers, feature stories, tips, and folklore surrounding fruit and fruit wines.
